How to Turn On 2FA for NearlyFreeSpeech.NET

Please note: Specific instructions for enabling 2FA are subject to change without notice. Please check with each website or app for the most up-to-date information on this feature.

Read the below information on enabling 2FA for NearlyFreeSpeech.NET via smartphone authentication app or SMS message.

Smartphone Authenticator Applications

With any Android or iOS smartphone, You can set up an app and generate time-sensitive one-use codes to use when you log in. Even if somebody gets your password, they aren’t getting into your membership. To keep this from becoming too onerous, you can optionally mark a computer as trusted for up to a week. And to protect yourself, you can generate one-use recovery codes (to be stored somewhere very safe) to recover your membership if you lose your 2-factor device.

SMS (Text) Message

NearlyFreeSpeech.NET also has added SMS support. Configure an SMS number on the profile tab and they will be able to use it to help you recover your membership if you ever need to. As an added bonus, they will also use it to tell you if your account runs out of funds (or enters suspended animation) and you have the option to set up account balance warnings that use it as well.
