KLab Inc. and Telesign Corporation today announced they have partnered to offer Mobile Identity services.

Background of Service Offering
As the world grows more digital each day, an increasing number of economic and social activities are being handled online. From account registrations to online credit card payments, many people have become dependent on the internet for some of the most important aspects of their lives. However, the rise of unauthorized account access in recent years has raised many concerns. This new partnership allows KLab to offer Telesign’s full mobile identity portfolio to Japanese companies mainly in four industries (EC, online banking, cloud services, mobile apps) in an effort to strengthen account security. A key component of these authentication services includes two-factor authentication, which adds an extra layer of account security beyond just the username and password. While a large percentage of Japanese companies have not yet deployed two-factor authentication, it is expected to grow in popularity as the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is now recommending its usage.

Telesign Main Services

  • Verification APIs – Telesign delivers phone-based verification and two-factor authentication (2FA) using a time-based, one-time passcode sent over SMS or via Voice call to provide an extra layer of account security.
  • Mobile SDKs – Telesign provides mobile app developers with robust, lightweight software development kits (SDKs) to streamline the new account verification process and easily build two-factor authentication (2FA) into mobile apps.
  • Data & Analytics APIs – Telesign delivers real-time security intelligence, data and analytics on phone numbers around the world to enable greater assurance and security against fraudulent activity.

Background of New Business Enhancement

KLab Inc. and the KLab Group were founded as R&D companies for mobile technologies. The Group started developing its security business and mobile online banking systems for megabanks in 2004. The companies experienced major growth primarily in the gaming business sector after entering the online mobile gaming industry in 2010.
Due to the volatile nature of the gaming industry, KLab announced the development of non-gaming businesses as one of its mid-term objectives. These new efforts will account for up to one-third of the company’s revenue in the future, and are part of the Group’s efforts to bring a greater level of stability to its business operations. The re-launch of its internet security business is based on this objective.
