How to Turn On 2FA for Venmo

Please note: Specific instructions for enabling 2FA are subject to change without notice. Please check with each website or app for the most up-to-date information on this feature.

Confirming your identity when signing in from a new device helps Venmo know it's the real you and not a hacker. When you sign in from a device not recognized as yours, a code is sent to the phone number or email registered with your Venmo account. Entering this code correctly confirms your identity. After successfully signing in, you may grant Venmo permission to remember the device. You won’t need a code to confirm your identity when signing in from that device in the future. You will still need to enter your password correctly. If you want to keep your Venmo account safe, you can set a PIN code in your account as another layer of security.

1. Sign in to your account as you normally do. Under Account, go to your Account & Privacy.

Locate Passwords & Authorizations, click Edit

2. Verify that your devices are saved. If not, sign in to your Venmo account with your preferred device and follow the prompts to verify this device with your account.

3. Once you add a PIN on the iPhone app, it will need to be entered when you log in or open the app.  To set your PIN, go to Settings > Passcode Lock, then choose your 4-digit PIN.

4. Once you do this, you’ll be prompted for your PIN every time you enter the app.
