Darren Berkovitz — cinema enthusiast, high-tech junkie, and laugh practitioner — has an instinct for identifying great ideas and the business savvy to turn them into profitable companies. As a co-founder and Vice President of Business Development, Darren identifies and develops strategic partnerships and accounts, executes company wide strategy, and evangelizes TeleSign within the industry. He also oversees TeleSign's intellectual property strategy and secured a granted Patent for PhoneID (Patent No. 7,945,034) with several other pending patents.
He also leads TeleSign's intellectual property strategy, which involves translating inventions to patent applications. TeleSign’s current patents include PhoneID (Patent No. 7,945,034) and TeleBureau (Patent No. 8,117,106), with several other patents pending.
In 2005, Darren was a part of the TeleSign founding team who took an idea and turned it into an enterprise-grade system that was adopted by the world's leading web companies. Darren oversaw the continued revenue growth of TeleSign by improving its technology and increasing the company's operational capabilities. Building on that success, Darren was instrumental in procuring and growing key accounts, which resulted in TeleSign protecting billions of internet users.
Before TeleSign, Darren worked at Metro Enterprises, an Internet incubating company, where he developed several Internet start-ups that provide value at the intersection of Internet and telephony.
Darren is a frequent speaker at meetings and conferences, including the SC World Congress. He has been featured in hundreds of media outlets including Good Morning America, Entrepreneur.com, MSNBC.com, CNN, Esquire Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, and NPR. In 2011, Darren was selected to be “Entrepreneur in Residence” at the Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship at Chapman University.
Darren holds a B.S in Business Administration from USC (cum laude).
