The Internet creates plenty of great new opportunities for people to access a vast range of information from virtually any part of the world. Prior to the we explosion of the nineties, telephones and televisions were the fastest means for the sharing of information. A person needing medical attention would have to look up a clinic in the phone book, call, and make an appointment. If a special doctor was in need, such as a psychiatrist or neurologist, the person would have to search and find someone within their budget, location, and or insurance plan. I feel that that process isĀ no longer necessary and took on the task of connecting physicians with patients via the Internet. In 2002 I created a website with a vast network of the nation’s doctors. Included in my site is also an online chat option for those needing immediate advice. I purposely wanted the service to be free for patients in the United States but needed a way to verify their location. After researching several options I learned of TeleSign’s telephone verification tools. The telephone verification simply involves a customer entering their domestic phone number and receiving a call from TeleSign relaying a password. Once the customer is finished creating his or her account, the password is entered and access to the network is granted. Since implementing TeleSign’s telephone verification, we have had very little problems with people using our system from abroad.
